Pizza Party!

My boyfriend Justin, our friend Andie and I share a small apartment near our university. The apartment is coming together after living here for a month, but to really make it home we decided to throw a small pizza party to welcome everyone back to school and check our new place.

Andie and I started with the homemade pizza dough to kick off the party…

There’s so many different recipes for homemade pizza dough out there. I went with a recipe for Shutterbean’s blog. I’ve used store bought dough before and it turns out a perfectly okay pizza crust BUT making your own dough is soooo simple. It starts out with a few ingredients and takes around two hours for the dough to rise but the end results will cause you to never buy store bought dough again!

Our friends thought the pizza was a hit!

It was cheesy and filled with lots of flavor and veggies. Yumm-o!

Homemade Pizza Dough

Makes two pizzas

3 3/4 cups bread flour (I didn’t have bread flour-all purpose flour works just as well

2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

3/4 teaspoon table salt

3/4 teaspoon sugar

1 1/3 cups water

In a large bowl, stir together the flour, yeast, salt and sugar till blended. Add the water and mix it some more. Split the dough into two rounded balls and cover with some damp towels and let it rise for at least two hours.

Once it has a chance to rise, place one of the dough balls on an oiled pan and stretch the dough to fit a 13×18 inch pan. Really oil the pan, it helps keep the dough from stretching apart!!! Fill in any holes with extra dough. Sauce it up and pile on the toppings-this pizza dough would be good with going in a classic margherita pizza direction or follow our path by throwing on all the veggies in the fridge!!

Bake at 500 for around 20 minutes-ours took a little longer having two pizzas in the oven at once.

Cut and enjoyyy!
